Awards and spent a few days and some late nights meeting rap, R&B and kuduro superstars from across Africa: names like Banky W, Fally Ipupa, Daddy Owen, Cabo Snoop and Radio & Weasel, from Angola to Uganda, Democratic Republic of Congo and beyond, all huge stars in their own countries, selling truckloads of records despite rampant piracy and a rickety music industry. These guys are kind of the Jay Zs and Snoops of Africa, basically.
The River runs through me
"Throughout my career I have never strayed far from the river or the combination of it's elements.
Sometimes the piece itself turned into a creation of it's enviroment captuing the essense of it 's own history.
Other pieces took on a life separate and apart from it's history, beginning a journey unique to itself.
Regardless , each discovered and hand selected piece has its own statement, its own journey, and I have been fortunate to become its steward for the time being."
Unlike regular wood art, which derives from the synergy of the artist and his material, eco art stems from the dialogue between the artist and the environment, and its existence is predicated on the special relationship it develops with its environmentt.

Edwards attraction to water, nature and times past has evolved into him turning driftwood into one of a kind art, home furnishings, outdoor living projects, and sculptures. Rich in it's raw form, this medium has perfected it's beauty by the ongoing process of nature. Edward hand selects every piece with a vision and purpose far greater than it's original destination. His designs are creative and authentic, with a timeless quality that appeals to all.
Inspired by the great outdoors and the American revoulution era, the natural art from Edward Johnston is all hand-built and selected from the coastal waters, woodlands, and structures of the historic northeast.
"I am a real fan of early American history. I am constantly looking for old or petrified wood and other materials that have age to it. Just the thought of all the years on the water entwined with its life term on land ignites my spirit and fuels my creativity."
Edward's art originated on the mighty Delaware River just below Philadelphia in the approx area where Appeal to Heaven Flags were flown during the American Revolution . "I live in a historically rich area just outside of Philadelphia, between Valley Forge and Brandywine Battlefield and so much of our countries start is all around us in nature and spirit."
No matter what type of home or business; at the shore, in the mountains, or in between, having a custom built piece of Eco Art from Inspired Appeal to Heaven artists can make a statement and a feeling like no other home decor.
Bringing the beauty of nature into your home and garden.
